✦ Answer CGIJ
----------
✦ Narrated Ibn Abbas Radi allahu anhu : The Prophet Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam came to Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. He asked them about that. They replied, "This is a good day, the day on which Allah rescued Bani Israel from their enemy. So, Musa Alaihi salam fasted this day." The Prophet Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "We have more claim over Musa Alaihi salam than you." So, the Prophet Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam fasted on that day and ordered (the Muslims) to fast (on that day).
Sahih Bukhari Book 31, 222

✦ The Prophet Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam said Noah boarded the ark on the first day of Rajab. He and all those with him fasted. The ark floated with them for six months-thus, until al-Muharram. The ark anchored upon al-Judi on the 'Ashura Day, and Noah fasted and ordered all the wild and (domestic] animals with him to fast in gratitude to God.
