Zakat Al Fitr

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim

- Zakat Al Fitr-

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas Radi Allahu Anhu :
The Apostle of Allah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam prescribed the Zakat-al-fitr (alms) relating to the breaking of the fast as a purification of the fasting from empty and obscene talk and as food for the poor. If anyone pays it before the prayer (of 'Id), it will be accepted as zakat. If anyone pays it after the prayer, that will be a sadaqah like other sadaqahs (alms)
Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 9, 1605 – Hasan
------------------------------
Narrated Ibn Umar Radi Allahu Anhuma:
The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam enjoined the payment of one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the 'Id prayer. (One Sa' = 3 Kilograms approx.)
Sahih Bukhari, Book 25, 579

  1. Assalamu alaikum,

This post clearly explains the importance of Zakat al-Fitr as a purification for the fasting person and as support for those in need. It’s a simple yet powerful reminder of how Islam encourages us to help the less fortunate while completing our worship during Ramadan.

For Muslims in Canada, if you are looking for a reliable way to fulfill your Zakat al-Fitr, you can consider using trusted charities like Penny appeal canada. They ensure your contribution reaches eligible recipients in a Shariah-compliant and transparent way.

May Allah accept our fasting, our zakat, and all our good deeds. Ameen.
