The Virtue of saying Astagfar (asking forgiveness)

✦ The RasoolAllah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: If anyone says these words he will be forgiven , even if he has run away in the time of the battle.
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَىُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ 
Astagfirullah-Al-lazi la ilaha illa Huwa Al-Hayyul-Qayyum wa atubu ilaih 
Translation: I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Almighty, Whom there is no god except him, The Living, The Eternal, and I repent unto Him
Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 8, 1512-Sahih

✦ The RasoolAllah Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam said: If anyone regularly asks forgiveness, Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress, and a relief from every tension and will provide sustenance (means Rizq) for him from where he did not assume.
Al Muajjam Al Kabir,Tabrani-Sahih

✦ The RasoolAllah Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam said: O people, ask forgiveness from Allah. Indeed, I ask forgiveness from Him a hundred times a day.
Sahih Muslim, Book 35, 6523

✦ The RasoolAllah Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam said that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, spread His Hand during the night ,so that the people ask forgiveness, for the sin committed in the day and He spread his Hand, during the day, so that the people ask forgiveness, for the sin committed in the night. (He would accept forgiveness ) before the sun rises in the west (means before the Day of Qayamah).
